Rebecca 02:34
Rebecca I never liked your name that’s why I changed it for this song and I can always change whatever I don't like whatever doesn’t go my way I can always change my lips like clouds of thunder broke and brought words of love upon you each hand a sailing ship across your body my fingers were the ghosts of men who died at sea Rebecca I never liked the truth that’s why I changed it for this song my lips like clouds of thunder broke and brought words of love upon you each hand a sailing ship across your body my fingers were the ghosts of men who died at sea Rebecca I never liked this song

you loved that song then we were animals the life of smiling rivers held in our mouths green and gravel wild cross-cut farms 20 acres each Becker to Monticello the picture show the druggist the soda shop and your father's garage your mother's very big smoked out couch and we were anything but owls precise machines or even-eyed we were a field mouse jagging through the freshest parts of the truest places and that song found me on highway 10 at 4pm as I drove past the mark of where it all used to be and I was a gray blush riding the periphery If you grew needles If your body was a garden

Some shadows are for eating Some shadows are for play Some shadows crack at dawn Some shadows never go away If you get eaten by a shadow Go deeper in its throat And from your skull carve a skiff Or some other merry float And pilot fast that long cold hollow The tunnel of that endless swallow Until some course appears to you And like a dynamo bust through That punk-ass chew of inky black Who thought to make you his snack Who thought just because you were down He could with impunity fuck around And sink you forever into sleep In his belly for safe keep With all the other things gone bad like Shitty music or a drunk dad But you are not a number two You are every children’s book come true You are a hero, you are a queen, a king You are special You are special You are special You are special.

circle goes the sun circle goes the moon chasing the seasons her blackberry hair trailing June and when she calls she calls me captain then we salute and click our heals to earth we're bitches we're machines we're spitting, biting pearls sail on me sail on you sail on sweet thing this good ship is on the loose we're bitches we're machines we're spitting, biting pearls divide if you divide unite if you would unite we're bitches we're machines we're spitting, biting pearls divide if you divide unite if you would unite maybe it's forever or maybe it's just time maybe baby we're just lucky even though we don't always shine we're bitches we're machines we're spitting, biting pearls

Shotgun 03:11
shotgun I was out of the barrel and into the body mad run I was out of the barrel and into her body I can't guess the speed I won't go adrift I can't miss shotgun So long I was out of the barrel and long gone dead on I was out of the barrel and dead on touch to destroy love to destroy destroy to destroy I can't guess the speed I won't go adrift I never miss I can't miss

Firecracker 02:55
Firecracker you used to mean so much put you in a box or set you on some rocks and throw you in the water and have you go like a miniature war Firecracker you used to mean so much the thrill of watching things blow up and all we had to do was set the lighter to the fuse then kick back and wait a few for your final loving trick Firecracker Firecracker Firecracker Firecracker Firecracker your tiny charm was lost in the minutes of the world that rallied one after the other to make a bigger sound than you Firecracker Firecracker Firecracker Firecracker

Spin 02:30
the nature of this kind of action is movement at any cost any point of touch can be about so much spin child spin even fiction is a place you can become you can come from and in that way any point of touch can be about so much the nature of this kind of action is movement at any cost

every revolution has a mother every song has a start every slave has a master living in their heart once you were a monster once you were a charm once you were described in ink running down the length of my arm you can call me I will return brother you start the fire and I’ll let it burn and I’ve seen my name inside you in the hollow of your bone a tiny dreaming worm a pathenogen a poem you can call me I will return brother you start the fire and I’ll let it burn maybe tomorrow we could get together on the parkway by the trees where the lilies kick the river and the leaves kill the breeze you can call me I will return brother you start the fire and I’ll let it burn

Seed Dude 01:26
It just came back to me the memory of these cats that I used to know when I was hanging out on the west bank. particularly this one seed dude named John he was way way into, what's that fella, Buckminster Fuller geodesic dome cat and he was way into seeds and there was something really beautifully passionate about this dude but he was also so totally divorced from ah the rest of the world that I had to pity him I mean he was both sad and ah shining shining because he was into all these crazy cool things that I dug and I thought really spoke of a hopeful future and he was really into the idea of seeds and cultivating seeds and making sure that the planet was seeded properly and he really wanted to curate that process and that's fucking beautiful that's really, really beautiful on other hand that fucker never really bathed much and ah, you know, he's just out there

my father is a giant once he rocked the land with great authority plunging coast lines into the sea debating the moon calling love's bluff and in general bending what could not be broken I can provoke him I can wash his feet or I can hurt him yeah, I know how to hurt him if I knew the alchemy of giants I would turn him into a bar of solid gold and I would set him at the foot of a small mountain where he could listen to the world for as long as he has not listened to the world and I would take him to the foundry and I would shape him into every kind of man he never knew existed and I would do nothing to repair his shame or his guilt because above all else these are his most treasured things my father is giant I can provoke him I can wash his feet or I can hurt him yeah, I know how to hurt him but what profit is there in conquering the dead and the dying

I don't have a church all I have is worse hurting after hurt hurting to be hurt thunder in the sun becoming to become I was running just to run salvation's easy hit I was raging full of it tapestries in skin beginning to begin thunder in the sun becoming to become I was running just to run nobody knew her honest touch as much as me alone dripping panicked and obvious onto her china bone my body was a coward howling every hour darkness Jesus mother Jesus thunder in the sun becoming to become I was running just to run who let God out of the box who took the rock off of the top God complicated everything you complicate everything thunder in the sun becoming to become I was running just to run

Sly Machine 02:58
I am caught in the womb of this sly machine where she doesn't go ka-chunk or make any unnatural sounds where the well-oiled cogs of an ancient guilt spin idle but not forgotten where she says kiss me then go where we laugh ebullient jelly laughs in the seventh hour before dawn unquestionable champions aching lovers dutiful children of a God whose creature were born for touch so what if you're catholic Jesus was a Jew and I have known nuns who would gladly put out for him think of me like that think of me like that only without the nails in my wrist or ferocious divinity think of me like that we can still be clean only the temperature will change

I Asked God 02:37
I asked God please take this away from me Please take this away from me God said ok, I’ll take it away from you I’ve got nothing better to do And in the morning God took it away from me God took it away from me God took it away Happy happy everything I am slipping on a skipping stone I asked God can you give it back to me It’s not what I thought it would be God said ok, I can give it back to you I’ve got nothing better to do And in the evening God gave it back to me God gave it back to me Happy happy everything I am skipping on a slipping stone
